Sponsor a White Hawk
Every issue we will feature one of our animals at Divertigranja with our “Sponsor an Animal” program.
For your generous donation we will put a description with your name, school. or business, on the enclosure of the animal you sponsor as well as send regular animal updates to your inbox.
Common Name:
White Hawk
Scientific Name:
Leucopternis albicollis
Name:
Mariscál
Mariscál was rescued as a baby from someone who had bought him on the black market and couldn’t care for him. He was all feathers and bones and could barely stand. As a result of malnutrition as a baby, he has vision problems. He serves as an example to teach the children that wild animals should not be stolen from their mothers, do not make good pets, and should not have to be in cages their whole lives. He cannot hunt very well, sometimes missing his mark when we place small live animals in his cage. He eats live animals such as young rabbits and other rodents, chicks, and quail. He also eats raw chicken. Mariscal is one of our animals with specialized training to strengthen his natural instincts.
Daily cost: 30 Pesos
Please write us at info@divertigranja.org to find out how to sponsor one of our animals.

Toño Pacheco... Guide Extraordinaire
Most of you are aware that Divertigranja has been in the process of transition to a new land space. We started construction in April and moving in May. Now that we are in June, most of the animals have been moved and there are only a few more enclosures to be built. Phew!

We are looking forward to our first day open for school groups on June 26th, and an inaugural event to take place that weekend. We are inviting current sponsors of our “Sponsor an Animal” program, as well as various government officials and media sources, in what we hope will be not promotion of Divertigranja as much as the impact that our themes are making in Oaxaca.

The price of construction materials here in Mexico, especially the cost of metal, has rapidly increased in recent months, making the biggest impact on poorer states like Oaxaca. In Divertigranja we have had to withdraw from the budgeting of other areas of construction to have enough for fencing and posts in order to move the animals. Now we are in the rainy season and urgently need roofing materials to protect our animals and stabalize our refrigerators for meat and produce from the rain. Please consider helping our animals keep dry by donating toward roofing sheets, each of which costs $20 USD. We are currently short 300 of the 500 sheets needed.

Divertigranja 2.0
memories of camping were greatly influenced by my times camping with my troup. Well, in Mexico, the Scouts are a mixed gender organization that is very dedicated to all that is the outdoors. Recently, various troups of different age levels have come to help build enclosures, dig holes, or help in other ways to prepare the new land. We are planning a camp-out under the stars at the new site for July, and are looking forward to launch our annual integrated summer camp this year for youth with and without disabilities with Scout youth.
